An early Friday morning blaze was tamed by Hamilton fire crews Friday, though some hot spots had remained as the sum came up.

The building that caught fire is at 345 N. Third St., next to the former “A Game Knight” business and just south of the Village Street intersection. It’s also almost 400 feet north of the Hamilton Lane Library.

No one was injured and the building was not occupied, said Fire Chief Thomas Eickelberger. However, he confirmed it was “freshly renovated.” Damages are estimated to be $100,000, but couldn’t confirm Friday morning if it was a total loss.

The building is listed as both 345 and 347 N. Third streets on the Butler County Auditor’s site, and are owned by the Hamilton Village Properties LLC, which also is the listed owner for multiple buildings along that section of the street. The total valuation of 345/347 N. Third St. is $190,950, according to the auditor’s office.

The fire chief told the Journal-News that crews were overhauling it and hitting the hot spots just after 7:30 a.m. He did not say what time the fire was reported, and it remains under investigation.
